Conference “Research Methodologies and Exploration of Textual, Audiovisual, Photographic, Iconographic, Hemerographic and Oral History sources"
The Conference “Research Methodologies and Exploration of Textual, Audiovisual, Photographic, Iconographic, Hemerographic and Oral History Sources”, taught by Paula Grenha and Libânia Pinto, is part of the Cycle of Conferences on Historical Research Methodologies. This cycle was developed within the scope of the Curricular Unit “Research Methodologies in History”, of the 1st year of the Master’s Degree in History.
The conference will take place from 4pm to 6pm, in person, in Room 2.04 of Building 2, Gualtar Campus, University of Minho.
The Conference Cycle is organized and supported by the History Department/Masters of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, in collaboration with Lab2PT/IN2PAST, under the coordination of Fátima Moura Ferreira.

Abstract: Paula Grenha addresses the different research methodologies developed and applied to her master’s project, entitled “Marginality in the present time or the city as an archive of segregation: the social neighborhoods of Braga between 2000 and 2022”, namely the bibliographical research of textual, audiovisual, iconographic and hemerographic content and oral history.
Libânia Pinto explored the methodologies developed within the scope of two research grants relating to the research projects “Images and things: political communication and revolution in Portugal and the PALOP (1961-1991/1991)” and “Diamang Historical Archive: intersections between the photographic collection and other documentary records of the Angola Diamond Company (1917-1974)”, highlighting the study of visual sources relating to photographs from the Diamang Historical Archive.
Biographical note:
Paula Grenha has a Master’s degree in History (2024) from the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho and a Master’s degree in Food, Sources, Culture and Society (2011) from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra, with a degree in Nutrition Sciences (2004) from Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the University of Porto and a degree in History (2021) from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. His areas of interest range from the History of Food and Social and Cultural History in the Contemporary Era to Marginalities, Urbanism and Housing in the History of the Present Time.
Libânia Pinto has a degree in History (2022) from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho and is finishing her master’s thesis in History, from the same Institute and University.
