6th session of the Doctoral Cycle of Conversations of the Associated Laboratory IN2PAST "Almada Negreiros: a cross-disciplinary approach between art history and heritage sciences"
The Doctoral Cycle of Conversations of the IN2PAST goes to Guimarães on April 4 with a session entitled “Almada Negreiros: a transversal approach between art history and heritage sciences”.
The presentation will be given by researchers Milene Gil (HERCULES – University of Évora / IN2PAST) and Mariana Pinto dos Santos (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST). The conversation will be started by the researcher from Lab2PT – University of Minho / IN2PAST João Cabeleira and Isabel Fernandes.
Using videos and images, Milene Gil will present the works being studied, the structure and the main lines of research of project ALMADA: Unveiling the Mural Painting Art of Almada Negreiros (1938-1956), which she leads at HERCULES, as well as the technical and materials studies, and ongoing diagnosis, in addition to some results that highlight the contribution of this type of research to different disciplines dedicated to the knowledge, valorization and safeguarding of cultural heritage. The intersections with art history will be explored by Mariana Pinto dos Santos.

The Doctoral Cycle of Conversations of the IN2PAST promotes the intersection of scientific knowledge whose diversity defines the transdisciplinary vocation of our laboratory. At the same time, the conversations foster dialogue between scientific practices of knowledge of the past and other cultural ways of using and understanding it, from heritage interventions to the elaboration of public memory policies, including artistic creation.
