In recent years, we have seen the installation of walkways, viewpoints and swings all over Portugal, with a view to increasing the tourist attractiveness of their locations and the respective municipalities. The local impacts as well as the profile of the users of these facilities remain unexplored in the academic literature. This exploratory project aims to fill this knowledge gap by studying the repercussions of these constructions in socio-economic, environmental, tourist, cultural and landscape terms at local level, as well as the socio-demographic profile of visitors.
