SHARE.ICS #13 | Bi-monthly meetings of ICS doctoral students
The SHARE meetings are bi-monthly seminars created, coordinated, and held by doctoral students enrolled in the third cycle of studies in history, archiology and geography of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho / Lab2PT. Besides being an opportunity for doctorate students to meet, each session enables a doctoral student to present the progress of their research and receive contributions from their peers.
SHARE.ICS #13 Sofia Catalão | Multidisciplinary PhD in Social Sciences: advantages and challenges
In this intervention we intend to disseminate the work developed within the scope of the doctoral thesis “The code of master masons: comparative study of the markings of stonemasons in Alto Minho from the eleventh to fourteenth centuries”, and to share with peers our experience regarding the implementation of a project that wants to be multidisciplinary, having as a framework the area of Social Sciences, more precisely, the discipline of history. The problem, the methodology of the project and the results obtained to date will be addressed. Then, an assessment will be made considering the challenges and benefits of this approach within the scope of a tutorial doctorate. Next, some considerations regarding the management of expectations during the research process will be presented.
