SHARE.ICS #7 | Bi-monthly meetings of ICS doctoral students
The SHARE meetings are bi-monthly seminars created, coordinated, and held by doctoral students enrolled in the third cycle of studies in history, archiology and geography of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho / Lab2PT. Besides being an opportunity for doctorate students to meet, each session enables a doctoral student to present the progress of their research and receive contributions from their peers.
SHARE.ICS #7 Rita Oliveira | Abolition of slavery in Portugal: problems, questions and possibilities
The abolitionist issue in Portugal in the 19th century appears complex and dense, inherently connected to other concepts such as the abolition of the slave trade and forced labor (with greater focus in the 20th century). In order to map and outline the paths and possibilities to follow, we are confronted with the literature of the theme, in this case with regard to the portuguese subject , and framed in the contributions from experts, problematizing our object of study. Thus, the path formulated by this analysis, combined with the crossing of sources, allows us to understand the questions of this research work and its multiple possibilities.
