Workshop “Fernando Távora, drawing and design”
1 to 5 of July 2024 | School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho/Azurém Campus, Guimarães
As part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fernando Távora, Távora 100, the School of Architecture, Art and Design and Lab2PT, organize the Workshop “Fernando Távora, drawing and design”, taking place from the 1st to the 5th of July and counting on the collaboration and participation of teachers and students from the three architecture schools associated with the Program (EAAD, Darq-FCTUC and FAUP).
The workshop aims to produce a ‘Wall Atlas’ drawn up under the themes: drawing and project / drawing and theory / drawing and external references. Variants of drawing are thus present, not always easy to compartmentalize, when it comes to design action (drawing in the development of the project), the construction/communication of theoretical thought (such as the drawings created in your classes) or related to your research ( namely the travel design and apprehension of visited references).
The Wall Atlas, in its narrative freedom, crossing and reading in hypertext, will condense the reflection and inquiry generated throughout the workshop work, considering the action of Architect Fernando Távora, as well as the broader context in which the author operates. The ‘Wall Atlas’ (to occupy the space of the EAAD Atelier rooms), will be recorded photographically and disseminated, in open access, in digital format.
Participation in the workshop is reserved for EAAD, Darq_FCTUC and FAUP students, with a maximum limit of 20 students per school. Registration is free. Students interested in participating must demonstrate interest, by email, to the contact person at their institution. EAAD students must contact Professor Joaão Cabeleira directly (joaocoelho@eaad.uminho.pt), indicating their full name, mechanographic number and year of course attendance, until May 23, 2024.
Professors Associated with the Program: João Cabeleira (EAAD); Eduardo Fernandes (EAAD); Carlos Machado e Moura (FAUP); Raquel Geada Paulino (FAUP); Luís Miguel (Darq); Teresa Pais (Darq).
Number of participants: 60 students.
The program will be based on a series of conferences, visits, working sessions, discussion sessions and plenary presentations. Students will be organized into mixed groups according to their origin and year of course.
