Workshop - Management and Administration of Digital Archaeological Data (COST Action SEADDA) – Open Registration
On the 30th of May, a workshop dedicated to the Management and Administration of Digital Archaeological Data will be held at the Archeology Unit of the University of Minho (Edifício dos Congregados, Braga), within the scope of the COST action SEADDA.
Archaeology has integrated digital technologies in its data collection and processing actions, taking advantage of ubiquitous computing. However, these digital resources may be irreversibly lost, not only because of the risk of media failure, but also because of the risk of obsolescence. In addition to these data safeguard issues, the lack of appropriate persistent repositories to allocate data resulting from archaeological activity is recognized, a fact that promotes a lack of equity in their access, which makes research on them difficult. In this context, the emerging challenge to facilitate the creation of knowledge, through the combination and crossing of data, involves the adoption of good practices around the harmonization of data creation processes, their preservation and dissemination, using repositories that make these persistent and available data in formats that are interoperable.
The event will feature several interventions and round tables around the above-mentioned theme.
Participation is subjected to registration (maximum 20 vacancies).
