Exhibition Opening | February 5, 2025 | 6.00 pm | Garage Avenida Gallery, Guimarães
On February 5th, the Exhibition “ARTIFICIALIS: The Nature of Latent Images”, curated by Paula Melâneo, opened at Galeria da Garagem Avenida.
The inauguration was preceded by a conference at 3.30 pm with the participation of 18-25 Research Studio, Guido Castagnoli, Mário Moura and Nuno Cera, followed by a debate with the authors of the book ARTIFICIALIS, moderated by Susana Gaudêncio (Lab2PT/IN2PAST) and Paula Melâneo .
The exhibition, organized by Space Collectors, the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho and LAB2PT/IN2PAST, will be on display until March 1, 2025.
ARTIFICIALIS: The Nature of Latent Images (exhibition and book) proposes an analysis and interpretation of how the image, digital representation modes and Artificial Intelligence have become, today, the chosen means for contemporary artistic production. Its use in this context has raised doubts over the last few decades, but the overwhelming speed of the evolution of these means currently raises countless questions, which are less quick to answer than this evolution. This exhibition brings together a set of works that seek to guide narratives in search of more concrete answers to some of these questions, proposing a critical reading of the role of technology in contemporary society, and how it redraws the boundaries of art and human expression.
