On October 28, at 10 am, at CAAA – Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura, the next Live Lab will take place: Guided Tour of the exhibition Net Arte no Triângulo das Bermudas: Contributos para uma reflexão sobre arte e internet em Portugal, as part of the Triangular artistic-pedagogical project.
In this workshop you will have the opportunity to meet and talk to the curators of the exhibition Net Arte no Triângulo das Bermudas: Sofia Ponte and Maria Luís Neiva.
This lab is promoted by the CAAA and is aimed at 3rd year LAV students, but is open to all interested parties and is limited to the gallery space.
The exhibition Net Art[e] no Triângulo das Bermudas focuses on the relationship between art and the internet in Portugal, since the stabilization of the internet in the country in 1995.
The exhibition includes 14 artistic projects created by artists and designers in Portugal, showing some of the creative potential of this media. The exhibition is documental in nature, comprising a set of initiatives that reveal the signs of the arrival, development and assimilation of web-related technoculture in the country.
Curator Biography
Sofia Ponte is an artist, sometimes curator, Assistant Professor at IADE, European University, and a member of UNIDCOM-IADE, where she coordinates the Media Art and Design Lab (MADx LAB). She obtained her PhD in Art and Design, specializing in Museum Studies, from the University of Porto. She holds a master’s degree in Visual Studies from MIT, USA.
Her interests include art and design, art and technology, women in the visual arts and the product of these relationships in exhibitions, collections and art museums. Her artistic practice develops between drawing, sculpture and design: www.sofiaponte.net
Maria Luís Neiva has a degree in Architecture (ESAP), a Master’s degree in Artistic Studies – Museology and Curatorship (FBAUP) and a postgraduate degree in the MA Cultural Astronomy and Astrology program from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. She began working as an architect in 2002 and worked in New York between 2006 and 2009. In Guimarães, she co-founded CAAA Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura in 2010, where she has since worked as a programmer, curator and producer in the fields of art and architecture, alongside architectural practice and research in the field of Archaeoastronomy, Art and Spirituality.
