Bárbara Marques, with work supervised by integrated researcher Vítor Ribeiro, wins Young Scholar Award Portugal | Environmental Systems Research Institute - ESRI

The student from the Department of Geography, Bárbara Marques, one of the three finalists, has just won the Young Scholar Award (YSA) Portugal with the work, supervised by the Integrated Researcher of Lab2PT/IN2PAST Vitor Ribeiro, titled as “An Integrated and Intelligent GIS System for Tree Inventory: Contributions of Deep Learning, Smart Survey, and ArcGIS Online Tools.”
The YSA recognizes innovative projects in the field of Geospatial Sciences, highlighting higher education talents from around the world.
The prize is a trip to San Diego for the Esri User Conference and Education Summit 2025, where the winner will present their work and exchange experiences with other young global talents.
