On March 26th, 2025, the UMinho GreenGap project team, made up of researchers from the areas of biology and architecture/territory, developed several participatory actions with the community of Paredes de Coura.

The objective of these initiatives is to bring to public discussion the local strategy for green infrastructure and adaptation to climate change that is being developed within the scope of GreenGap, in a partnership between the University of Minho and the Municipality of Paredes de Coura.

Two sessions were held, one in the morning, at the Knowledge House of Paredes de Coura, aimed at farmers, heads of associations and agricultural cooperatives, and another in the afternoon, at Elevadora – Business Training Center, Paredes de Coura, for young vocational education students.

 

The central theme was the importance of maintaining traditional irrigation system as a green infrastructure and climate resilience tool.
