In 2025, the Consello da Cultura Galega is launching the Transversal Thematic Encounters on Cultural Heritage (ETTPC), an activity centred on reflection and debate which, over the two-year period 2025-2026, will revolve around the territory as an object of analysis, as a common good in which our way of inhabiting the world and relating to each other is manifested.
The first ETTPC, entitled ‘Cultural landscape and territorial heritage. Towards an integrated territorial project’, will focus on the values of places and heritage assets and how they constitute a living and complex system in which nature and culture are inseparable. This systemic and territorial understanding of heritage is combined with the concept of cultural landscape, which plays a fundamental role in establishing a strategy for integrating the valorisation of places and local heritage assets into the processes of knowledge, management, planning and transformation of the territory geared towards social well-being. Recovering and valorising the territory’s heritage structure, starting from an integrated vision of the cultural landscape, separated from the irreversible consumption of the environment and the territory, relying on social participation and the knowledge and values of the local population, is the path to the necessary self-regeneration of the territory in its material and immaterial components.
The meetings consist of one day with a guest speaker who will give a lecture on the topic and a second day with an interdisciplinary debate on the same subject.
These ETTPCs in the 2025-2026 biennium are coordinated by Teresa Nieto, Carlos Amoedo and Lab2PT researcher Rebeca Blanco-Rotea, who will moderate the debate on 20 February.
The event can be followed by streaming from the website of the Consello da Cultura Galega.
