Shopyard Project - Braga 25: Tour + Assembly | Space Transcribers | Lucas Carneiro and Francisco Costa
November 9, 2024 | First generation shopping centers | Braga
Published on
First generation shopping malls have been, over the last few decades, spaces of opportunity for small businesses, services and independent cultural projects. Between cafes, antique shops, nightclubs, haberdashery, beauty salons and band rehearsal rooms, these commercial spaces absorbed and helped to build a parallel urban history that the city’s conventional streets and squares did not allow to accommodate.
On November 9th, the Shopyard Project, curated by Space Transcribers, invites you to explore this universe and its stories, in a day of special programming.
During the morning, there will be a guided tour of these spaces, led by the architect and EAAD/Lab2PT doctoral student, Lucas Carneiro. In the afternoon, an assembly open to the public will take place with the projects Barlos, Galéxia, TOCA and scenography by EAAD Alumni, Francisco Costa, where the challenges and opportunities that these shopping malls offer for cultural creation and promotion will be discussed.
