Parallel Lives is an initiative of the Chair of Galician Studies (Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon), in collaboration with the Consello da Cultura Galega, which aims to highlight, disseminate and leave a memory of the elective affinities between two individuals, one Galician and the other Portuguese, who are important in various cultural circles – academia, literature, cinema, theater, architecture… – of each country. Parallel Lives consists of two phases: the first, made up of two individual interviews, and the second, a conversation between the two people, with the aim of providing a retrospective reflection on the cultural crossroads between the Galician and Portuguese worlds, their specific historical circumstances, but also their evolution over time to the present day. The second session of Parallel Lives brings us to archaeology. Since the Rexurdimento and especially with the Nós generation, Galician and Portuguese archaeologists have developed numerous links of scientific exchange and joint work. Rebeca Blanco-Rotea and André Teixeira are representatives of a new generation of researchers who are working on border cultural heritage in periods that have not been touched on by previous generations, such as the medieval and modern eras.
