Project Title

Territorial dynamics and powers in the Braga region between Late Antiquity and the Modern Age

Abstract

The work aims to establish the main lines of settlement in the region of Braga between Late Antiquity and the Modern Ages, with the focus in the role that ecclesial institutions played in the organization of the territory. The research will proceed with an interdisciplinary perspective, crossing the methods and assumptions of Landscape Archaeology, Archaeology of Architecture and documental analysis. The objective is to study the main settlement units of the period analysed, valuing the places of worship, with the focus in the monastic domains and the relations of power and the dynamics related with them.
