Project Title

The historical experience of Portuguese corporativism in the north of the country: a case study based on the organization of rural structures during the Estado Novo (1933-1974)

Abstract

The project focuses on the analysis of the corporatization dynamics of the rural world in the North of the country during the Portuguese authoritarian cycle and takes the district of Braga as its focus of study. Its main objective is to advance the study of the meaning of corporate social experience and its political and economic impact in terms of characterizing regional and local elites through a fine-grained approach to primary corporate bodies. It is also intended to surprise the logics of plural power and influence that are drawn in the game of scales that crosses the corporate fabric.
