Project Title

Modular wood construction system. Spatial mediation from the façade

Abstract

The sustainability of cities and the well-being of their inhabitants are the pretext for introducing modular construction into the dialogue between architecture and urban space in the context of Portuguese cities. In a two-dimensional and three-dimensional approach, the aim is to explore adaptability and creative freedom, with a focus on housing, leisure and health programmes, in the context of prefabrication in timber, enhancing different interactions and qualities of interior and exterior space, contributing to the resolution of problems such as the performance needs of buildings, the sustainability of construction and its integration into cities. Free of context, formality and programme, the project is presented in the form of a catalogue of prefabricated modular construction solutions, which are presented as an alternative to the systems adopted in Portugal, serving as support for future interventions with the possibility of association with other construction systems and pre-existing buildings.
