Project Title

Ready-made in Architecture: the project as a re-signification of the existing space or reality as a response to the need

Abstract

The research proposes to test the specific possibility of architecture to solve the need, keeping the physical reality of the space, without building. The necessary transformation of the existing is evaluated through a process of re-signification of the reality, exploring the artistic idea of ready-made as a possibility for architecture projects. The project is used as a process of intellectual construction of the existing reality, to the detriment of the physical construction. Besides these artistic and philosophical dimensions, it is added to the research an environmental dimension, looking for making a contribution in the offer of economic alternatives and a response to the climate crisis. The practical and theoretical natures of architectural discipline come together in this work. On the one hand, existing practices are stimulated, reflected in the atlas of case studies. From a contemporary perspective, a review is made of their apparently diverse combination, creating an original thematic coherence. On the other hand, its analysis implies the creation of a specific vocabulary, defining a territory of knowledge that widens the disciplinary field of architectural theory.
