2018 - KERAMOS - Additive Manufacturing of Innovative and Multifunctional Ceramic Products for Architectural Systems
KERAMOS is an innovative project that enhaces the great benefits of the AM of advanced and customizable ceramic products, with the main aim of encouraging the wider use of innovative ceramic products in architectural systems, by exploring the potential of tailoring their multiple properties and the great benefits of AM advanced ceramic customized and sustainable products. The main focus are:
- The integration of additive manufacturing techniques in the design and production processes of ceramic and hybrid components (combining ceramics with polymers and metals);
- The expansion of functionalities beyond its traditional uses;
- The application of magnetron sputtered coatings with multifunctional characteristics.
The project gather a multidisciplinary team, which includes engineers, architects and physicists, brings together the experience, the expertise and the ideal laboratory conditions in the different areas covered by the project, in order to realistically achieve the ambitious objectives proposed. The project takes advantage of the fruitful cooperation between the Advanced Ceramics Laboratory, the Laboratory of Construction and Technology, the Polymer Group, Functional Coatings Group and Biofilm Group.
