2023 - GREEN GAP – Promotion of Local Green Infrastructures for Biodiversity Restoration, Rewilding and Climate Change Resilient Landscape Design
The GREEN GAP project aims to protect, conserve and enhance nature, especially in protected natural spaces, and the elements that constitute the green infrastructure in the cross-border region; act at local level and create a network of multifunctional and quality green infrastructure, which also contributes to sustainable development; halt the loss of biodiversity and improve natural ecosystems, the urban environment of the action area and ecosystem services.
The project will integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation and its effects, promote the prevention and management of climate change risks, with an innovative and multifunctional approach, in order to create a resilient landscape through environmental and ecological restoration, the ecological enhancement of natural green spaces, nature-based solutions and the strengthening of the role of local administrations.
The project will carry out a total of 4 planning documents (3 green infrastructure strategies and an action plan), as well as 7 Green Infrastructure pilot projects.
