2023 - Urjal: rural areas, heritage and sustainability – Exploratory study of its tourist potential
The village of Urjal is one of the villages classified as the village of saudade. This project aims to establish the links between various Lab2PT researchers and to extrapolate to the community the work that Lab2PT develops. It is also intended to know the potential and development of this mountain territory, develop basic strategies that can provide the center of opportunities for scientific collaboration around the heritage and the rural landscapes that characterize this territory in future applications.
The historic village of Urjal, of a granite nature, that has recently gained prominence in Portuguese society, is highlighted in the trajectory of the Geira Romana, which has well identified sections, and the paths of S. Rosendo, wich are attracting associations between several municipalities to develop them as a reference route in the Northwest. Similarly, and considering the event recognized as authentic and of national reference around community engagement and environmental sustainability known as Urjalândia – Sustainable Christmas Village, this project aims to identify the potential and understand among the participants what has been the driving force that has led to its exponential growth.
