2024 - CAMITOUR 2 - Evaluation of the type of interaction between residents and pilgrims of the Central Way Portuguese Santiago
The goals of the Project are the following:
– characterize the evolution of religious tourism in Portugal;
– list the existing national and international itineraries referring to the Camino de Santiago;
– assess the main features of the Camino de Santiago Central in terms of the type of landscape, the state of the route, information and signage on the route, support goods and services and existing risks;
– propose an action plan to improve the supply in terms of goods and services to pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago Central.
Quantitative and qualitative techniques are being used, highlighting the application of 112 questionnaire surveys to traders on the Way and around 350 questionnaire surveys to pilgrims, as well as a photographic record of around 2,000 photographs. Fieldwork has been carried out with the support of a grid (with 22 variables) and an App to assess the landscape and the five senses, as well as the existing goods and services that are offered to pilgrims. Georeferencing of existing tourist resources, goods and services is being carried out up to a distance of 300 meters from each point along the route. Carrying out thematic mapping and analyzing the results.
