The 2nd Annual Meeting of IN2PAST Thematic Line 5 – TL5 | Cultural Transfers, Public Policies on Memory and Inclusive Citizenship – will be held on 27 and 28 June at Iscte  – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Room B326, Building 4).

The meeting is open to all IN2PAST researchers and will be held in Portuguese.

Organised into five panels (Disputes of Memory I, II and III, Sounds and Images, and Territories and Community), the meeting includes 17 presentations by 19 researchers who answered the call for participation that took place in March and proposed the following themes: Uses of the past, state policies and the memorialisation of difficult pasts; Musealisation of authoritarian and colonial pasts, and their resistances; Events and commemorations of revolutionary and decolonisation processes; Restitution and reparation, including international debates around these issues; Cultural circulations and the formation of informal archives; and Popular culture and heritage.

This 2nd TL5 Meeting is the result of the discussions held at the 1st TL5 Meeting, held in June last year, where two themes were identified. These themes were the subject of a working meeting in December, in which the participants sought to move forward with two publications, in different formats, on the Musealisation of Authoritarianism and Colonialism, and on issues of Restitution and Reparation.
