5º National Meeting of Researchers of the IN2PAST
22 to 25 of january 2025 | University of Minho, Braga (Gualtar Campus and Rectory) and Extremo (Arcos de Valdevez)
The IN2PAST National Researchers Meetings aim to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and dialogue between preservation practices, knowledge and the configuration of the past, constituting the forum of reference and excellence for sharing research developed within the scope of the five thematic lines (LT) of the Associated Laboratory:
LT1 | Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage
LT2 | Landscape, Territories and Cultural Heritage
LT3 | Museums, Monuments and their Collections
LT4 | Archives, from Preventive Preservation to Digitization
LT5 | Cultural Circulations, Public Memory Policies and Inclusive Citizenship
It is also the privileged space for the construction of new forms of research and innovation, as well as for the enhancement of knowledge and collaborations between the researchers that are part of IN2PAST, from its seven research and development units (UID).
We invite integrated researchers with PhDs and PhD students from the seven UIDs that make up IN2PAST – CESEM, CHAIA, CRIA, HERCULES, IHC, IHA and Lab2PT – to submit individual or collective communication proposals and/or posters relating to ongoing research projects that fall within the scope and objectives of one or more of the aforementioned IN2PAST thematic lines, which can be consulted at https://in2past.org/thematic-lines/.
The proposal for a paper or poster should include the following items:
- Name(s) and surname(s) of the Author(s)
- Institutional affiliation (UID + University or Organic Unit)
- If the person is an integrated researcher/doctorate or doctoral student
- Brief CV (max. 100 words)
- Title of the paper/presentation
- Abstract of the paper/presentation (max. 200 words)
- Indication of the IN2PAST LT(s) with which the proposal is related

There will be no online participation/interventions or possibility of attendance via Zoom.

IN2PAST will cover the travel and accommodation costs of its researchers who participate in the 5th Meeting and are not affiliated with the University of Minho.

January 25 (Sat), 8:30am – 4:30pm | Field Trip to Extremo, Arcos de Valdevez + community lunch (registration required)
• Access to Bragandelo Fort is on foot, via a slope. Participants must bring comfortable and protective clothing, appropriate walking shoes, water and a snack;
• Lunch served at Paço da Giela, in Arcos de Valdevez, costs €25/person, payable on site;
• Departure from Braga takes place at 8:30 am, close to the Gualtar campus, in buses provided by the organization, and the return will be at 4:30 pm; We attach the complete program and other useful information, also available online.
8:30 am – Departure from Braga, University of Minho (participants will be picked up at Rua da Universidade, before the roundabout leading up to the campus, at the bus stop)
9:45 am | Arrival at the place of Extremo (Arcos de Valdevez)
9:45 am – 11 am | Visit to Bragandelo Fort and explanation of the fortified landscape
11am – 1pm | Visit to Forte da Pereira/ Football Field, descent to the cultivated fields via Caminho das Covinhas and guided tour of the agricultural area where the Land-CST exploratory project was developed
1:00 pm – 1:30 pm | Trip to the Palace of Giela, Arcos de Valdevez
1:30pm – 3pm | Community lunch with projection of images of the results of the Land-CST project and work with the local community
3pm – 3:30pm | Visit to the Palace of Giela
3:30pm – 4:30pm | Return to Braga (Arriving at the Gualtar campus, train and bus station)
