Music in Portalegre Tapestry
Organised by CHAIA and CESEM through IN2PAST
As part of the opening of the ‘Tecendo Música’ (‘Weaving Music’) exhibition at the Portalegre Tapestry Museum – Guy Fino, in the capital of Upper Alentejo, the ‘Tec(S)endo* Portalegre’ colloquium will be held on the 16th and 17th of May, organised by CHAIA – University of Évora and CESEM – NOVA FCSH through IN2PAST, in partnership with the Municipality of Portalegre. Topics for the panels include case studies of musical iconography in tapestries and in Portalegre, interactions between artists and Portalegre tapestries, and exhibition perspectives and tourist potential.
Taking part in the event are IN2PAST researchers Cláudia Sousa (CESEM – NOVA FCSH), Luísa Correia Castilho (CESEM – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST), Luzia Rocha (CESEM – NOVA FCSH), Paulo Simões Rodrigues, deputy director of CHAIA – UÉvora, Sandra Leandro (IHA – NOVA FCSH) and Telmo Lopes (CHAIA – UÉvora). The ‘Tecendo Música’ exhibition opens on the 16th at 4:30 pm.
