“Northwise Ceramics” Conference

NORTHWISE CERAMICS – 1st Conference
October 30 and 31, 2025

The D. Diogo de Sousa Archaeology Museum and Lab2PT – Laboratory of Landscapes, Heritage, and Territory will hold the first “NorthWise Ceramics” Conference on October 30 and 31.
This initiative is supported by CCDR NORTE, the Municipality of Barcelos, and the Municipality of Vila Verde.

The “Northwise Ceramics” Conference, in its first edition, will bring together experts in different fields of knowledge, focusing primarily on the ceramic collections held in museums and interpretation centers located in the North of Portugal, contributing to the knowledge, conservation, and appreciation of Portuguese ceramic heritage.
This is a space for reflection and sharing of experiences, with the aim of I will explore ceramics in its most diverse approaches, beginning in Northern Portugal and including some forays beyond. The course will cover topics related to archaeological and ethnographic ceramics, from antiquity to the contemporary era, the management of ceramic collections and collecting, strategies for document recording and research, as well as the new possibilities presented by the use of various analytical techniques and digital representation.

Participation is free, with registration, first-served basis (until the 27th) and subject to auditorium capacity.
