5th Congress of the Portuguese Archaeologists Association
The Portuguese Archaeologists Association invites all professionals and students of Archaeology to participate in the 5th Congress of the Portuguese Archaeologists Association.
This edition will continue the successful model of institutional collaboration at the academic level that has been carried out since the 2nd edition in 2017, now with the co-organization of the Department of History of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho.
Between November 18th and 21st, 2026, the University of Minho will host this scientific meeting, which had its 1st edition 13 years ago at the National Library of Portugal, in Lisbon.
The Portuguese Archaeologists Association, the Department of History of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, and the other institutional partners, appeal to the scientific community to present the latest results and reflections of their research work, continuing the success of previous editions.
Following the pattern of the four previous congresses, the presented works will be published beforehand in a volume that, it is intended, will reflect the intense archaeological activity underway in the country, addressing scientific themes and chrono-cultural spaces of diverse nature.
The Portuguese Archaeologists Association, founded in 1863, is the oldest association for the defense of Portugal’s heritage. Currently, it continues to occupy a prominent position in the landscape of safeguarding and disseminating Portuguese heritage.
The Congress of the Portuguese Archaeologists Association aims to promote and encourage critical reflection on Archaeology in Portugal, as well as its scientific dissemination within the framework of Open Science principles.
