Lecture “Community Mapping. A co-design experience to define narrative systems and communication artifacts”
On March 10th, at 11 am, a lecture will take place at the Institute of Design in Guimarães, with Professor Marcela Carlomagno, from the Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, entitled “Cartografie di Comunità. A co-design experience to define narrative systems and communication artifacts”.
The teaching experience titled “Cartografie di comunità”, carried out in collaboration with the Dedalus Social Cooperative, was an opportunity to experiment co-design methodologies with the community, through workshop sessions and focus groups. The narrative systems and artifacts developed aimed to represent the cultural identities that live in a specific area of Naples, the neighborhood of Porta Capuana, with the aim to define communication and awareness strategies towards specific themes, such as migration, inclusion, citizenship and cultural contamination. Additionally, the project fostered a critical reading of places and communities, helping to contrast misinformation and stereotypes caused by first impressions.
Biography: Michela Carlomagno, PhD and Research fellow at the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design (DADI) of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. Since 2018 she has been a member of the SIDE (Sustainable Design for Made in Italy) research group. Her research activities concern the investigation of collaborative and transdisciplinary approaches for the experimentation of new design visions with a particular interest in the context of product design, food design and cosmetic products.
