The SHARE meetings are bi-monthly seminars created, coordinated, and held by doctoral students enrolled in the third cycle of studies at the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho / Lab2PT. Besides being an opportunity for doctorate students to meet, each session enables a doctoral student to present the progress of their research and receive contributions from their peers.

 

 

#35 SHARE.EAAD Catarina Breia Dias | Mobility, urban nature, social and collective space: transform, modify, adapt, integrate, test

This session is part of the winter season and counts with the presentation by doctoral student Catarina Breia Dias.

 

Abstract:
Alongside the natural process of urban transformation, cities face numerous challenges, requiring a broad understanding of their elements, particularly the street.
What are our interpretations of recent street transformations, and what dimensions should architects and urban designers consider in these processes?
What tools or other spatial approaches must be implemented, and will the transition guarantee a paradigm shift and healthier, more inclusive ecosystems?

 

Biography:
Catarina Breia Dias (Cacém ,1994). Master’s in architecture at the Lisbon School of Architecture (2018). She has had diversified experience in her work as an architect, between Lisbon, Ghent and Porto.
Catarina is a PhD student at the School of Architecture, Art and Design at the University of Minho, where she is conducting a research entitled “The transformations of streets around a social and collective space, of integrated mobility and of urban nature: concepts and practices”. She is also a member of the Future Design of Streets Association.
