Extension Course "Theory and Methodology in History: aspects of interaction"
In April and May 2025, the Extension Course “Theory and Methodology in History: aspects of an interaction” will take place, taught by José d’ Assunção Barros.
The eight-hour course is divided into four classes on theory and method, fields of history, concepts and historical sources.
The lessons will take place between 2pm and 4pm on the 9th, 23rd, 30th of April and 7th of May, at the Gualtar campus of the University of Minho (Portugal).
Participation requires mandatory registration using a form available online (see link below). The certificate must be issued after completing at least three classes.
Biography:
José d’ Assunção Barros is a historian, writer and musician (graduated in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; graduated in Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). Master in History and PhD in History from the Fluminense Federal University. He develops research in the areas of Theory of History, Philosophy of History, Methodology and Historiography, as well as related to the relationship between History and the various forms of artistic expression (Music, Cinema, Literature, Visual Arts, Photography, Theater, Urbanism). In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in History at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, he is a permanent professor in the postgraduate program in Comparative History at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).
