NEIGHBORHOOD FORMA Festival | Common Compote | Workshop + Collective Meal with Daniel Parnitzke
June 17-21, 2025 | São Vicente Urban Garden, Braga
WORKSHOP + COLLECTIVE MEAL
Learn how to collectively build a handmade stove with local materials and make jams with fruits from the urban garden of São Vicente, culminating in a shared breakfast with the neighborhood.
This activation, included in the program of the FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA Festival, is led by the German designer Daniel Parnitzke, based in Marseille, whose work investigates the “pleasure in scarcity” — transforming material limitations into opportunities for collaborative creation and community gathering.
This activation includes two practical workshops and ends with a community pancake breakfast, open to all.
Programme:
– Rocket stove workshop: June 17 and 18, 6pm–9pm
– Jam workshop and community kitchen: June 19 and 20, 6pm–9pm
– Community breakfast: June 21, 10am–12pm
Participation is free, upon registration. It is possible to register for just one workshop or just the breakfast.

FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA is an architecture and art festival that takes place in Braga between June and November 2025, curated by the architecture research duo Space Transcribers – Fernando P. Ferreira and Daniel Duarte Pereira (Lab2PT/IN2PAST) – in the context of Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture.
The festival proposes a critical reading of the contemporary city, focusing on two central themes: urban growth over the last five decades in a democracy, especially in residential areas around the historic center, and the transformation of the concept of “neighborhood,” influenced today by new forms of relationships — such as digital networks and more-than-human ways of life.
The program is the result of listening and mediation work that began in 2024 in partnership with Echo Coletivo, with workshops, visits, and meetings with residents and associations in eight locations in Braga (five urbanizations and three urban gardens). The stories, memories, and dynamics collected in these contexts served as the basis for the construction of the festival. In 2025, FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA will be installed in these eight territories with temporary architectural installations designed by eight national and international architectural teams: Manuel Bouzas, Parto Atelier, Patrícia da Silva, Nuno Melo Sousa, ATA Atelier, LIMIT Architecture Studio, RAM and Atelier Local. These installations will become the stage for “neighborhood activations” led by guest artists and designers: ZABRA, Gustavo Ciríaco with Andrea Sonnberger, Frame Coletivo, A Recoletora, Soraia Gomes Teixeira, Landra, Inês Neto dos Santos and Daniel Parnitzke. Each activation proposes a distinct artistic approach — from walks and workshops to performances and shared meals — culminating in a public moment of encounter.
By focusing on areas outside the historic center, the festival designs an alternative cultural and architectural itinerary, invites the rediscovery of the city built in democracy and affirms these everyday spaces as places of encounter, care and experimentation on ways of living and relating in today’s city.
