Green Gap Academy | 1st edition
As part of the Green Gap project and the Cross-border Knowledge and Training Network on Green Infrastructure, the Galician-Portuguese School of Green Infrastructure and Resilient Landscapes (Green Gap Academy) has started its journey.
Its objective is to promote, through a training plan designed by all project partners, green infrastructures at the local level to contribute to biodiversity restoration, rewilding and resilient landscape design.
Given the scope of the topic and the ambitious formulation, the training actions were designed to serve as a guide for local administration personnel, professionals related to the management of natural areas, landowners and administrators, students and the general public.
To achieve this objective, content was designed in the form of specialized lectures and colloquia, training courses and practical workshops that aim to address different aspects, both from a theoretical and practical point of view, which will be made available over the coming months in different formats (in person or mixed), as well as through the project’s website and social networks, always with the participation of specialized teachers and experts with experience in the different topics.
On April 1, 2025, the course “Green Infrastructure, Ecological Restoration and Urban and Rural Resilience at the local level” will be held at the Galician School of Public Administration in Santiago de Compostela, in a mixed format, that is, in person and online. During the morning, a general introduction to the topic will be given, an approach to the legal framework and the different approved green infrastructure strategies, some examples will be shown and there will be an exchange of ideas around a round table.
The 11 Galician and Portuguese partners involved in the Green Gap project (Instituto de Estudios del Territorio, Municipality of Paredes de Coura, University of A Coruña, University of Minho, Provincial Council of Ourense, Municipality of Guimarães, Laboratório da Paisagem – Association for the Promotion of Sustainable Development, Fundación Centro de Estudios Eurorrexionais Galicia-Norte de Portugal, Ayuntamiento de Pontevedra, Portuguese Environment Agency, Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) aim to actively contribute to offering current and future citizens a greener, low-carbon Europe, transitioning towards a resilient economy with zero net carbon emissions, promoting a clean and equitable energy transition, green and blue investment, circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation, risk prevention and management, and sustainable urban mobility.
