Workshop “Gathering Memories”, research project “T.E.R.R.A-E”
The T.E.R.R.A-E project starts from the former primary school of Extremo to understand the role of school spaces in rural communities and their long-term impact. Through a participatory research process, it explores the memories, experiences, and meanings associated with the school as a territory, from the period prior to its construction up to its closure in 2007.
This is the first activity developed with the Extremo community and is organised around the theme “The Memory of the School”, through a set of participatory workshops that explore the intersection of three temporalities — the “before” of the school, the “during” period of its operation, and its “after”, understood as an imagined future — seeking to understand continuities, ruptures, and possible futures of this space and its role within the community.
The programme also includes a discussion with the community on the future of this heritage, integrated into the dynamics of the village. The activities conclude with a community lunch and a session dedicated to community life and life stories, promoting the sharing of experiences and the collective construction of knowledge around memory, heritage, and territory.
