Workshop 'Heritage in the Far East and Contemporary Societies: reading and living the rural landscape'. 2nd Meeting for research, education and socialisation of the heritage of Arcos de Valdevez
This workshop is being held as part of the PIPA FronteirA-S 2022-2025 project (CSP 238751) and the IN2PAST exploratory project From Land to Land. Connections for Sustainable Territories (Land-CST) (EXPL/In2Past/2023/09) whose objectives include developing methodological tools for studying the landscape. It also involves collaboration with the local community, with the intention of turning the knowledge generated into the sustainability of the heritage of this territory affected by emigration, depopulation or an ageing population. To this end, we have collaborated with David Álvarez-González from the Institute of Heritage Sciences (INCIPIT-CSIC), which also runs similar projects in Spain. The workshop aims to discuss methodologies for the archaeological reading of the landscape and the reversal of the results in projects co-constructed with local communities. On Saturday 28th, several shared activities took place in Extremo between the scientists and the inhabitants of the village.
