The workshop ‘Arqueologia dos campos de refugiados republicanos espanhóis em Barrancos (1936)’ is part of the PEx of the IN2PAST HELP. Heritage, Environment, Liberty and People. Archaeology of the Spanish refugee camps in Barrancos, Alentejo (1936), coordinated by Xurxo Ayán Vila (IHC – NOVA FCSH/IN2PAST).
The project involves Rebeca Blanco-Rotea, researcher at Lab2PT, who will present the work developed at the extreme site as a methodological model for the analysis of fortified landscapes and community archaeology. The woorkshop is part of a week of work in which the materiality of the refugee camps will be documented and an exhaustive study of the border cultural landscape will be carried out, in addition to the scientific exchange between the members of the team, and between them and the community of Barrancos.
