Next November 18, 2026, the presentation of the book Manual of Archeology of Architecture, published by the Community of Madrid, will take place at the Institute of Evolution in Africa (IDEA).
The work is dedicated to Architectural Archeology, an area of research that studies buildings and structures built as historical documents, trying to understand their evolution, the different construction phases, the techniques and materials used, as well as the relationships between architecture and the social, cultural and territorial contexts in which it was produced.
Authored by Agustín Azkarate Garai-Olaun and Rebeca Blanco-Rotea (ICS/Lab2PT/IN2PAST), the work was published in 2026 by the Community of Madrid and constitutes a contribution to the systematization and dissemination of the theoretical and methodological foundations of this discipline.
The book tries to reinforce the importance of the archaeological study of architecture, not only for the historical reconstruction of buildings, but also to base the processes of conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and valorization of the built heritage.
The presentation will be an opportunity to publicize this publication and reflect on the role of Archeology of Architecture in the investigation and management of cultural heritage.
Organization: Archaeological and Paleontological Museum of the Community of Madrid (Spain)
