The postdoctoral researcher funded by the Xunta de Galicia, Celtia Rodríguez González, currently undertaking a research stay at the University of Minho, na UAUM and in the Lab2PT, and a specialist in gender archaeology and rural societies, has recently published the book Arqueología de Género en Galicia with the international academic publisher BAR Publishing, a leading reference in the field of archaeology.
The volume represents the first monographic synthesis on gender archaeology in the Galician context and offers a critical reassessment of the early medieval past (4th-6th centuries AD) through the perspectives of gender theory and material analysis. The study addresses the social construction of bodies and identities, everyday and maintenance activities, and the material memory of historically invisibilised labour.
The publication forms part of the COIDARQ project (Xunta de Galicia, 2024–2030), coordinated from the University of Santiago de Compostela.
