Congress “Uncertain Landscapes 2: Beyond the resources”

Pre-call

 

In 2023, we took on the difficult task of developing a conference that would break paradigms in terms of approach, theme, and structure.
The objectives of this conference were to address Uncertain Landscapes as a conceptual tool for rethinking our way of being in the world, breaking down disciplinary boundaries and seeking new positions in the present, based on the past and moving towards a more permeable future. We did not see time as a barrier, but as a driving force.

We believe that the 2023 experience was a success. The discussions helped to resolve uncertainties and raise new questions. Above all, the UL congress and Lab2PT, the research unit at the University of Minho that promoted the initiative, adopted a proactive stance and committed themselves to the landscape and its research and management.

 

In 2025, we took on the challenge of promoting a second conference, to be held between 25 and 27 November 2026, once again at the Teatro Jordão and Centro Cultural Vila Flor, in Guimarães.

 

We are now launching the pre-call for papers with six session proposals to which abstracts, articles or projects can be submitted:
1. BEYOND LEGACIES: INVISIBILITY OF MEMORIES AND VISIBILITY OF THE PROCESS;
2. BEYOND PARADIGMS: COMPLEXITY, EPISTEMOLOGICAL BREAKS AND UNTOLD HISTORY;
3. BEYOND (AB)USE: LANDSCAPES OF CARE;
4. BEYOND THE URBAN: ANCIENT GEOGRAPHIES WITH NEW FORMS OF CONSTRUCTION;
5. BEYOND THE SURFACE: REGENERATIVE PRACTICES;
6. BEYOND PROGRESS: EMBRACING COOPERATION, SLOWNESS AND INDETERMINACY.

 

On 31 March, we will launch the call.
