In the year marking the centenary of Vasco Cabral’s birth, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, in partnership with Lab2PT, the Vasco Cabral House of Letters and Arts, the National Union of Artists and Writers of Guinea-Bissau and the Guinean Society of Authors, and with the collaboration of his widow, Teresa Cabral, is launching the process of digitising the author’s literary and documentary collection.
This initiative aims to preserve, enhance and promote the legacy of one of the most prominent figures in the culture and history of Guinea-Bissau, ensuring the safeguarding of manuscripts, correspondence, published works and other materials of significant historical and literary interest. Digitisation will not only enable the conservation of this heritage but also provide wider access to researchers, students and the general public, contributing to the strengthening of collective memory and a deeper understanding of Vasco Cabral’s work and thought.
Professor Fátima Moura Ferreira (ICS/UMinho/Lab2PT/IN2PAST) is the Lab2PT representative in this initiative.
