Book Fair | University of Minho's Recomeço Festival
September 17th and 18th, 2026 | Gualtar and Azurém Campi

The University of Minho presents, starting Thursday, September 17th, the Recomeço Festival, an initiative that marks the beginning of the academic year celebrating creativity and cultural enjoyment, artistic diversity and the cultural heritage of the cities of Braga and Guimarães – and also, conviviality. Seven main areas encompass the many activities, ranging from routes, gatherings, ideas and words, to sounds, performances and images.
The program is diverse in the activities taking place between September 17th and 19th. From picnics to open-air cinema, there will be something for all tastes and schedules. There are routes that are guided visits to museums, archives, palaces, gardens, libraries, and walks to natural and heritage sites. There are conversations and gatherings at midday and late afternoon picnics, in the shade of trees or with a view of the horizon. Ideas are exchanged and fiction is mixed with comics, Romans, Lusitanians and Bracari. Words written at book fairs, displayed freely on mini-stages in almost-street settings, and recited in an audiovisual gallery of poets and faces from UMinho are combined.
There are seated and itinerant shows, from classical to jazz, alternative bands and DJs, as well as a podcast to “sample” music. There is theater and performance in the languages of Camões and Shakespeare, rehearsed or improvised, to evoke who we are, where we are from, and who we come from. Finally, there is radio and cinema under the stars imagining who the “aliens” will be, and also exhibitions of press, photography, and other visual arts.
In this context, a Book Fair was organized on the University campuses, where Lab2PT was represented with a stand on the Azurém campus and another stand on the Gualtar campus. Several publications of our own production and editing, from different scientific areas and authored by various researchers, were available for purchase.
