The article “Cooling Potential of Green Infrastructure: The Case of the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim (Portugal)” was published in the international journal Geografisk Tidsskrift – Danish Journal of Geography, by Taylor & Francis.
The research, developed by researchers from Lab2PT/IN2PAST and Professors from the Department of Geography Hélder Silva Lopes and Paula Remoaldo, and by doctoral student Inácio Ribeiro, analyzes the contribution of green infrastructure to mitigating the warming of urban spaces.
Using the municipality of Póvoa de Varzim as a case study, this article seeks to understand how green spaces can contribute to reducing temperatures, improving local thermal conditions, and strengthening the adaptive capacity of urban areas to climate change.
The research highlights the importance of integrating green infrastructure into urban planning and climate adaptation strategies, recognizing its role in building more resilient and thermally comfortable territories.
