Equids recorded between the Minho and Âncora rivers, Northwest Portugal. From inventory to study and interpretation.

Abstract:
This work analyzes the equines recorded in rocky outcrops between the Minho and Âncora rivers, in Northwest Portugal. There, 126 equines were identified in 43 outcrops, recorded and analyzed using photogrammetry. A chronological and interpretative analysis of these engraved motifs is proposed, showing that the horse assumes economic, symbolic, and possibly religious importance in pre- and proto-historic communities.
This conference corresponds to the Master’s thesis of this researcher, who was awarded in this category at the 10th edition of the Eduardo da Cunha Serrão Prize.
