On Thursday, October 1st, a series of international events will take place online, coordinated by the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Brazil): the XI International Symposium on Celtic and Germanic Studies, the II International Symposium on Medieval Studies, and the I Colloquium on Medieval Studies of the Orient.

Lab2PT/IN2PAST researcher Rebeca Blanco-Rotea will participate in these meetings with the lecture “The Memory of the Landscape: From Legend to Architecture. The Late Ancient Space of the Basilica of the Ascension in Armea (Ourense, Galicia)”.

The presentation will address the evolution of a symbolic space from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages, with particular attention to the 6th century, analyzing how materiality, orality, and legend intertwine in the construction of a Christian landscape. The event will take place online.
