Lab2PT/IN2PAST researcher Rebeca Blanco Rotea is taking part in the BIP (Blended Intense Programme) “Innovating from Tradition. Strategies for reinterpreting Vernacular Techniques for a sustainable future”, which will take place in Vila Nova de Cerveira between 30 June and 11 July, with the lecture “Construction techniques of the fortified architectures of Vila Nova de Cerveira”.
This BIP focuses on the adaptive reuse of Castelo de D. Dinis, exploring how vernacular construction techniques can be reinterpreted to meet contemporary sustainability and regulatory requirements.
The aim is to reintroduce local materials and low-tech building systems as viable solutions for the revitalization of the historic structure.
