On November 28th, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Aquis Querquennis, the workshop The Via Nova as an Opportunity was held, where Lab2PT researchers Helena Carvalho, Rebeca Blanco-Rotea and Jorge Ribeiro participated in the “Interterritorial Coexistence Conference” at the Hall of Acts of the Bande City Council. This initiative included institutional representatives, technicians, and researchers directly involved in the study and valorization of this ancient Roman road.
. Helena Carvalho presented “The Cultur-Monts Project – Valorization of Mountain Cultural Landscapes: a resource for sustainable territorial development”;
. Rebeca Blanco-Rotea presented the work carried out with Martiño Xosé Vásquez at the Castle of San Xoán de Bara, Vilar de Barrio, Ourense: “Where does the Castle of San Xoán de Bara look? Between the Bronze Age and Romanization”;
. Jorge Ribeiro presented the PIPA project “BracaViae – Road Landscapes: The Roman Geira in the Serra do Gerês”.
The meeting aimed to strengthen institutional, scientific, and social cooperation between municipalities, research centers, and entities in the Galicia-Northern Portugal cross-border territory through the establishment of stable alliances, the definition of joint projects, and the valorization of shared cultural and natural heritage as a axis for sustainable development.
