Participation of researchers Jorge Ribeiro and Eduardo Fernandes as co-authors of the work “History of Art in Braga”

The work History of Art in Braga was presented on October 23rd in the Main Hall of the Biscainhos Museum, in Braga.
This is a project conceived and coordinated by Dr. Eduardo Pires de Oliveira, in five volumes, in which researcher Jorge Ribeiro (Lab2PT/IN2PAST) is co-author of volume I “Bracara Augusta City of Images” with Dr. Rui Morais (Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto) and researcher Eduardo Fernandes (Lab2PT/IN2PAST) is co-author of volume V “19th/20th Centuries – Braga in Times of Search and Change” with Dr. Eduardo Pires de Oliveira.
Promoted by the Municipality of Braga, this is the first history of art entirely dedicated to a Portuguese city, conceived and carried out by a multidisciplinary team of specialized academics.
This is a five-volume collection that covers more than two millennia of artistic and cultural evolution of the city, from the founding of Bracara Augusta to the 20th century, and was coordinated by Eduardo Pires de Oliveira.
The “History of Art in Braga” collection is organized as follows:
👉Volume I – Bracara Augusta. A City of Images (by Rui Morais and Jorge Ribeiro)
👉Volume II – History of Medieval Arts in the Municipality of Braga (by Luís Fontes)
👉Volume III – Art in Braga (c. 1486–c. 1640) (by Paula Bessa)
👉Volume IV – Braga: Baroque, Rococo and Late Baroque – Classicizing Trends (by Eduardo Pires de Oliveira)
👉Volume V – 19th/20th Centuries – Braga in Times of Search and Change (by Eduardo Pires de Oliveira and Eduardo Fernandes)
This work establishes itself as an indispensable reference not only for researchers and students, but also for cultural tourism professionals and the general public interested in the city’s identity and heritage.
