On November 4th, Lab2PT/IN2PAST doctoral student Santos Garcia Simão defended his thesis, entitled “Archival Heritage of the General Secretariat of the Government of Angola (1922-1975): a study on the interactive logics of colonial knowledge” supervised by Professors Maria de Fátima Cunha Moura Ferreira and Bruno Tiago de Jesus Madeira.
The study aimed to understand the interactive logic of colonial knowledge through the core documents of the General Secretariat of Angola, then a Portuguese overseas province, held in the National Archives of Angola and Overseas Territories in Portugal. The established chronological boundaries are justified by the fact that it was during this period that important reforms emerged in Portugal. These changes influenced the way of seeing and thinking about colonialism.
Congratulations to Dr. Santos Garcia Simão!
