History, Food, and Research Practices: Reflections on "The Historian's Craft"
On February 27th, at 2 pm, there will be an open lecture entitled “History, Food, and Research Practices: Reflections on “The Historian’s Craft”, given by researchers Caroline Gil and Lidiane Monteiro from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (COC/Fiocruz), as part of the History of Presente Time course unit.
Synopsis: Based on a consolidated historiographical reflection, especially throughout the 20th century, we will discuss the main theoretical and methodological frameworks that enabled the constitution of food as a field of study in History. The objective is to problematize how the historian constructs their research objects, highlighting the potential and challenges of food and hunger as historical problems.
This open lecture is organized by the History Department of ICS, in collaboration with Lab2PT/IN2PAST, under the coordination of Bruno Madeira.
Free admission.
