Times change, memories change: monuments and anti-monuments
On April 24th, at 2 pm, there will be an open lecture entitled “Times change, memories change: monuments and anti-monuments”, given by researcher Catarina Lages (FLUP), as part of the History of Presente Time course unit.
Synopsis: Counter-monuments and anti-monuments question traditional forms of monumentalization, proposing new ways of representing and problematizing historical memory in public spaces. By challenging the idea of fixed and celebratory memory, these forms of memorialization invite critical reflection on the past and on the historical narratives constructed in society.
This open lecture is organized by the History Department of ICS, in collaboration with Lab2PT/IN2PAST, under the coordination of Bruno Madeira.
Free admission.
