A call for applications is open for 20 (twenty) PhD Research Grants.

This call is part of the Collaboration Protocol between the University of Minho and the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT), within the ARQUS European University Alliance.

The research activities of the selected grant recipients must be integrated into the scientific plan and strategy of a UMinho R&D Unit — which will act as the host institution.

 

General Information:
• Vacancies: 20 grants with full funding provided by the FCT.

• Target Audience: Candidates enrolled, or candidates who meet the necessary conditions to enroll, in one of the PhD Programs at the University of Minho, and who intend to develop research activities leading to the attainment of a PhD in a field of knowledge at the University of Minho that falls within the research areas outlined in this call for applications.

• Geographic Scope: Scholarships may be national or mixed (with a maximum period of 24 months in cooperating foreign institutions).

• Duration: Annual contracts, renewable up to a maximum of 4 years (48 months).

• Deadline: The submission period ends definitively at 5 pm (Continental Portugal time) on June 29, 2026.
• Procedure: Applications and supporting documents as stipulated in the call for proposals must be submitted electronically to: research@reitoria.uminho.pt.
